14th Annual Prairie Riders Grass Drags & PowerSports Swap Meet
Sunday October 7, 2007
7 am - 5 pm
Boone County Fairgrounds
Belvidere, IL 61008
815-289-1401

We will make a few changes this year and I have listed them below. We will be expanding our show again for the 3rd year in a row. We keep filling the swap area each year so we will expand again to meet the demand. I have been told for a couple of years now that we have the biggest show in Illinois. Not getting out to many other shows I can only take their word for that. That being said we will continue to provide a low cost show for everyone, swapper, racers, and spectators. Our show is all about coming out and having fun. Sell your old stuff, buy new stuff, or just look, it won't cost you or the family much to come and have a lost cost fun filled day. If you want to try racing and never have done it before, this is the place for you.

Racing

We have a great track of 4 Lanes and 500 ft that many of the veteran racers say is their favorite track.
Last year we had 120 race entries in 20 Classes. We follow ISR rules but are a non-Sanctioned run for Trohies event. Race fees are $15 per class entered. We were down on the number of racers last year as were most race events, but in the previous years we normally have between 150-175 race entries. 3 new classes this year, Vintage (1981 and older) 500 Fan (0-500cc) 600 Fan (501-600cc)
Registration 8-10 am. (Registration form with complete class listing is on the website for download)
Racing at 11:00 am.
Must be 18 years old to race & 16 in the pits. (Insurance requirement, sorry)

As always kids race Mini Sleds for free and they all get a trohpy.

Swap Meet

Big area of swapping and it's getting bigger every year. Last year we had 175 swappers and about 10-15 vendors. I will be working hard in the next months trying to get some of the aftermarket vendors here. We have great vendor rates of $25 so if your a vendor or know of one please contact me. Last year we changed our show to include Power Sports in the swap area. Althought still primarily a snowmobile swap meet, we saw a big increase in cycles, Atv's, boats, and lots of misc. Bring whatever!

A couple of changes this year in the Swap Meet:

We will be charging the same fee to get in, $5. But we will start charging $5 to swap, be it a truck, two place, four place, whatever the size. Still cheap and that's the way we will keep it. The swapping fee is to try to control some who abused the free swap by driving in the swap area to park and taking up space but not swapping anything. If your not swapping use the walk in gate, it's not that far a walk. Sorry for those who followed the rules.

We are also going to change the parking arrangement to mirror how it is done at Heydays. Drive straight in and park in rows, this will give each site more frontal area to display your items.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or suggestions and I will get back to you.

Thanks, Dan

Well, I came home from Haydays with some money in my pocket. I will definately be checking this show out.
ACEXLT,

glad to hear you may come to out to our show. My brother lives in Oak Creek and it's about 1 hour 15 min. to his place. Should be a little quicker for you. Take 43 to the Clinton, WI exit, head south and you'll run right into us.

Is boone going to be a money race this year or trophies only?
As before we are a non sanctioned, run for trophy event. The main reason is in the early years we had no finish line system. Trying to payout money when you called races by sight was asking for big trouble and lots of bitching (ever see video of the finish line at speed, very hard to call the big sleds) Since we got our timing system a few years back we have remained a run for trophy event. Racers who run here know this and run for a good time at a reasonable price. Our goal is to get racers here, have a fun time and not break their bank accounts. Payouts are not in the future here, but we will remain a very good value, and place for the veteran and first time racers. Last year was a big year for first timers. Fun to watch them trying to get it right and enjoy the day. This year with the new Vintage Class we expect to see even more first timers or old salts returning to run the old iron. See you on the 7th.

I hope to be there this year although I might be in the same pickle as last year if Byron dragway has their wheelstanding world championships on the same day again.
Yep you are screwed, they are on the same day.

I was at a pretty good sized swap meet in Slinger,WI yesterday. Several people were talking about Grayslake being cancelled and I told them about this one.

If I was thinking ahead, I would have printed out some flyers and brought them along.
