My brother in law has a 95 indy 500 with under 1500 miles on it. He drove it at the end of last year after some supposedly cleaned the carbs for him because it had been sitting for so long and he said when he let off the throttle it would kill. So today we took the carbs apart again and cleaned & sync'd them along with adjusting the chokes. It is still doing the same thing. It onlys seems to start when choked. It will run for maybe 10 seconds and then kill, even if you give it gas. We also disconnected all the connectors coming out of the throttle and had the same results. Does anyone have any ideas what could be going on or what to check next? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

sounds maybe like crank seals....do a compression check while your at it...maybe the throttle saftey switch is kaput.

Runs on the choke but not after you release the choke???.....HMMMMMMMMMMMMM PILOTS JETS PLUGGED??
Also like what was said check compression with the throttle wide open and pull it about 5 times (like a man)

Definalty not a crank seal problem, wrong symptoms for a bad crank seal. I agree with CMG , plugged pilot jets. Take your carbs apart an clean em up good.
