Well last wednesday I was looking through The Forum, a local newspaper for a sled when I stumbled upon a "01 XCST 600 2350 OBO" with the persons number. Not only was he asking a reasonably cheap price but he had it labeled incorrectly. So I decided to give this person a call and ask a little about the sled. He said it had been in the paper for a little over 3 months, and if I came to look at it and I liked it he would give it to me for less than HALF! The man wanted it out of his sight because he purchased a newer Edge X, and he was going to use this for parts! So we got to talking specifics and he told me that it had some damage to the hood when he hit a piece of rebar, otherwise the sled was in great shape. So I decided to take a look at it at around 8PM. I get there and this thing is in decent shape and pretty much how he described it. I looked it over with a flashlight for a while and asked him various questions about maintainance and the sleds history. He said that the owner of Wheels Inc. (local Polaris dealer), Wayne got this sled brand new in 00 and sold it to him the following year. After the questions I asked him what he had to have for it and he said I'd like 1000 out of it at least, and me being a poor highschool student asked if he would let it go for 800. He waited about 20 seconds then said "Well okay and I appriciate you haggling me."
What am I to do with the crack in the belly pan? Anyone have a good suggestion? I was thinking plastic weld on the inside, put the reflective material over it, and put a skid plate on. I should be as good as new and you wouldnt ever know, or am I wrong here? Has anyone had success with repairing cracks like this? I am ordering a new hood this summer and will be put on for next winter.
