1996, Ski-Doo Formula SL 500.

During my last ride, everthing was working just fine. I started my machine today and did not notice that the headlight, taillights were working or not working.

After warming up the engine, I took the sled out on the lake behind my house for a quick spin. The sled performed fine. It should be noted that there was a lot of fresh snow on the lake and it was coming up over my hood while riding on the lake.

With that said, my wife and I took off for our snowmobile trip and a mile down the trail we noticed that my head light, tail light, tacometer, brake light indicator light (on the dash) and my warmers were not working.

Actually, the head light and tail light lights up extremely low. A candle wold produce more light than they do.

What happened to my lights and the other stuff?

Did I get moisture (snow) from the lake inside the engine compartment and into a connection somewhere to cause this problem?

Any suggestions are appreciated, other than buy a new sled. :)

Thanks.

either the voltage regulator as already stated or the lighting coil in the stator (which is what it was on mine).
