I was just wondering how long the drop case/chain case oil is supposed to last. My friend just got a new sled and it ran out already. The sled only has 500 miles on it and he just got it from the dealer about a month ago. Could this be the dealer not putting in any drop case/ chain case oil. He really wants to kno because we jsut had to tow him six miles because his sled was grinding and after a while it wouldent move. He just took it to the dealer so ill update you whith what they say..If you have any info it would be greatly apprechated!
- Thanks Justin.

Change your oil once a season, No it should not use any oil... Was this a brand new sled??? That grinding noise isn't a good sign.

Sounds to me like the dealer didnt check it on set up[:(!]
I am thinking that the Chain is destroyed, maybe even the sprocket, but why did you have to tow him, did he blow the chain apart?
Good thing it is under warenty, I would just make sure that they put in new gears and a chain and make sure that there are no leaks.

hmm. i havent changed my chaincase oil in over 2000 miles and 4 years with my sled. no problems yet. good thing you brought that up, i might wanna do that...

agreed ihave shavings on my magnet i thought that was normal. what is a new chain and gears worth

states in the manual that one is (suppose) to clean the magnet once in a while ,and i think 1500 miles or yearly ,what ever come's first

That magnet should be taken out and cleaned every ride or two. If you would change that oil then take it for a 20 mile ride there will be metal stuck to it. That is normal, just keep it cleaned off so it can do it's job and keep the metal from wondering around in there. For those that don't have a magnet it should be changed once a year, if you saw how much metal is on those magnets you would be suprised.
