I went to the U.P this week (the trails were rooouuuugggghhhh!)
and my 99 zr 440 ran great the first day, then it ran poorly only after I ran it wide open for 20-30 seconds. It started and idled like normal, but it wouldn't respond well when when I tried to drag race or haul after the tight twisty trails.
I cleaned the carbs this year and re-jetted, both main and pilots.
(190 main and 20 pilot) the factory installed 210 main and 22.5 pilot.
I don't need to worry about elev. in michigan, just temp.
I run the high dollar br9eix plugs and changed them once which didn't help my problem.
One last thing I noticed, earlier when it ran well it would idle high about 4,000 rpms for about 20 sec. after a good fast run of 80 to 90 mph (per the speedo of course) before the idle would slowly drop to 800 to 900 rpm.
If anyone has an idea of my problem I will forever be in your debt.
