Yesterday I dug out my old John deere 300. I rebuilt the carb and put new plugs in it. I can't seem to get both cylinders to fire. I have good compression in both and both have spark and fuel. I tore the jug off the cylinder thats not firing and changed the gaskets. Any ideas why its not firing?

when u checked the spark, obveiously with the plugs out. did u ground them to the engine in some sort of manor. if not u may have created an ignition problem
