new track on a old sled?

i have an 81 Yamaha enticer 300.Can i put a new track on it.For the deep snow.and where and what kind of track? (if i can get one). also how do i get the length of the track? Do i just start in a spot and go around till i come back to the same place.

your really not going to get a correct measurement that way or anyway I think. i believe your sled would be a 121 in track. someone correct me if im wrong. ( also might be a 116 but i thought they went away with that with the exciter. you would be able to put a newer track on your sled as long as the lugs dont hit the tunnle. you would have to measure that.

i think it might say under the hood. because there is an info thing like a sticker that says all the tune up specs. it is a pritty short track. i know that.

It's probably a 116. Measure the inside all the way round.
We did the exact thing to an old SS440 (around 1980ish).
We just bought a polaris 121 track with 3/4" lugs.
Check the front clearance to make sure what will fit.
Then all we did was pull the whole skid back a couple inches to make up for the extra track. We also lowered the mounting holes to raise the machine up a bit. I think we had to make a homemade bracket for the back end but that's quite easy. I little bit of elbow grease and fooling around for an afternoon and you'll have it done.
For us it turned out excellent and you don't have to spend a lot of $$$$.

ARE THE LUGS LIKE THE PADDELS. u might think im dumb for asking all thies ?s
but i just want to be shure.

cool.man i hate to ask ?s it makes me feel dumb. but thanks for the help now i know.seems to me every time i get on this site i learn a thing or two.

i do have a job but i broke my arm and cant work right now. it would take untill next winter to save up. i just got this sled.
