well this summer I plan to completely go through my indy 500, and if all goes to plan, I will be taking all the good stuff off my indy trail to put on the indy 5.

So I had some questions about interchangeability, I know the suspension can be retro-fitted if I so choose, but I was wondering about other little things such as

-oil pump
-fuel pump
-CDI box
-wiring harness
-chaincase
-jack shaft
-drive shaft
-secondary clutch

^^^ can this stuff be swapped with minimal headache? or will it be a huge fab job? The indy 500 has about 8600 miles on it and it is pretty worn out, so I wanted to swap anything I could out of the newer, lower miles sled.

Also wondering about the rebuild for the motor, how in depth should I go? Just rings and gaskets, or should I do pistons, rings, bearings, ect. ect.? The motor still runs great, starts right up and runs all day long with no problems. the compression is down to about 100 or 105, depending on how hot it is.

I know I have alot of time to be thinking about this, but its been bugging me for the past few days, so any help would be very cool!

Sorry, I should have been more specific. The sled that all the parts will be coming from is a 1997 Indy Trail, which is the evolved chassis, the recipient sled will be 1991 indy 500, which is the wedge chassis. I realize they are different chassis, but the reason I ask is because I have heard that the bulkheads are basically the same, and most of the parts interchange

something else I thought of today, should I worry about the water pump when I rebuild? How long before they wear out? and do they make a rebuild kit for them?
