Hello all...I'm a first timer here and hope to become a long timer at some point. I'd like to ask a question regarding the value of a sled that just might be our family's first! I live in northwestern PA, right in the heart of lake effect snow country. I have long wanted to get into sledding but have been too busy raising kids up to this point (my kids are 6, 3, & 1.)
Anyway, my brother in Indiana has lost his job and has offered me one of his sleds, a 1985 Yahmaha touring sled for $700.00. My brother got all the mechanical ability in the family so I know he's telling the truth when he says it's in impecable condition. He never rode it hard, most of the riding was on groomed trails of Michigan where he would take his family several times a winter. But...I can't help but wonder if $700.00 is a fair asking price for a 1985. What do all of you think?
Trust me when I say I am not looking for a sled that will break land speed records, just something we can enjoy as a family. Selfishly I do hope my wife falls in love with the hobby and give the green light on gettting a more recent model!
Thanks in advance for your thoughts! I am anxious to read your thoughts...
