Okay, case in point...

Obviously our sport is under attack, doing a search for the word louder I came up with 350 topics with that word. Maybe not all relating to pipes and silencers, but I imagine 90% of them do.

Here are some points for you guys who think they want louder.
1. Gutting your silencer will cause a power lose, maybe not significant, but you will loose some. Reason, you loose some back pressure, but most is made by the stinger design. But, back pressure helps keep the heat in the pipes. The reason you need heat is because the pipes were designed to operate at a certain temperature, change the temperature and the pressure waves will travel at a different speed causing the waves to not hit the ports at the optimum time.
2. Straight pipes will provide you with a snowmobile that goes 20mph and makes you wear ear plugs. Tuned pipes are on a two stroke for a reason. They give you a broad powerband and allow the sled to operate at higher RPM's allowing it to make better power.
3. Here's some food for thought. On an Indy 650, the Decker, SLP and Aaen's make the most power according to M-performance. PSI and DG made the least power. Guess, which pipes are the quietest when kept packed? That's right the Decker, SLP and Aaen.
4. Loud pipes/motors contribute to closing trails.[xx(]
5. Many states have laws in place agaimst loud exhaust systems, some are around 73 deciebels. Fines can run up to $200-$400. So your aftermarket exhaust just cost you $700, not $500.
So any of you guys who want louder are nuts. Any other senerio's you can come up with?
