So i was out riding the ol' 650 the other night and it was running like a champ. making lots of power and handling WAY better than i thought a sled of it's age should.....anyway, my buddy's artic cat had a problem so we stopped and called for a truck to pick us both up and now my sled won't refire. It was running like a champ when i shut it off. and now no life at all. I have tried a little staring fluid and even fresh plugs but not even a little pop. what gives?

does it have a fuel shutoff, did the carbs drain out?

yes it has a fuel shut off. I would think that even if the carbs drained out that it would still fire on the starting fluid. I haven't checked for spark yet but I haven't had the best of luck checking for spark in the past. i have used the ol put the spark plug against the cylinder and got nothing and a few minuets later i had the sled running. maybe there is a better way to test

check your kill switch, unplug it and if you get spark, then you know were the problem is.

I hold the plug against the head and pull and it has always worked for me.

well, i unplugged the kill switch and still nothing. i am pretty sure that it's a no spark issue at this point cuz i used an old trick a guy showed me when something is flooded an that is to take a propane torch and put a little of the flame down the cylinder and blamo. cylinders are nice and clear. well after every starting attempt. i got a little poof out of each cylinder which mean it's getting fuel...........anything else i can try?

Start by checking the plug wires for wear. I noticed on the older sleds the plugs wires get rubbed right on down to the conductor. Then move on to the coils.

plug wire seem good...how do you check the coils? What are the odds that all three coils would go out at the same time. is there something that would kill spark to all three? I have a parts sled so i can swap a few things out if needed.....as always thanks for all of the great help!!!

so i went outside and i got a pushed and pulled the kill switch up and down vigorously a few times and blamo. she popped right off. so my next question is how do you change a kill switch. do you have to change the entire throttle block or can you change just the switch? thanks for all of your help with this as i just don't have the money to bring it in right now......thanks!!!!
