hey guys i need help on a project im undertaking to race beatercross this winter. i bought a barn find 87 polaris trail indy sp that was a limited build factory cross country sled they raced in the jeep i-500 in 87,88,89 and they dominated. its got a 488cc fan with 3k miles. first off i want to find a rebuild kit for the motor and freshen it and i heard you can advance the timing with good results? next im installing brakes, steering, and gear case from a 94 xlt. i have to use the stock rear skid so ill go thru the bearings too. what gears did they come with and what should i run for a snowcross course with small jumps? next is clutching, what kit should i run? i am limited on rules to 1 inch lug track with no studs so i found that track to install but clutching and gears is where ill benefit the most? finally is shocks and springs, the 94 xlt has fox shocks that ill put on the 87 but which springs?

Not many of the old folks left on here. You'll most likely be on your own with this project.

Got some notes in garage. Fully advance timing as far as Stator allows. 20/39 gearing. 10 AL weights. [53] grams. Run 91 non ethanol. 2 size bigger main jets. 40/36 helix. Red spring in 3rd hole. I used red primary spring from polaris but no longer available.
