i guess i should start with spark plug then plug wire, coil, cdi and last the stator. but if anyone has other suggestions i would like to here them. my 14 year old son put new rings in it and gaskets, but did not tourqe properly and lost coolent then almost siezed the motor. i retightened everything and fixed problem but noticed a backfire every so often then started to loose spark on one side after 20 min of riding.

I have had 2 or so phazer coils go for shit on the 485's and usually it drops a cylinder when it acts up and replacing the coil usually fixes the problem.

no i have not ruled anything out yet. i have not been able to work on it yet, hopefully i can get to it this weekend and get it running then i am going to sell it and buy my son a 550 fan cooled sled i heard they are pretty much indestructable if looked after properly.
He wants to buy a 800 rev i told him over my dead body lol.
