Just gonna make the short trip on saturday to try out a couple of new items I added to my sled. Ryan glad to see you back. Hope to see you "on the trail" someday.
not nearly as much snow at this time compared to last year in Petersville but at least everything is frozen... this weekend we rode from Nancy Lake along the big Su to the Yentna and up to Lake Crk... trails are VERY hard packed and the rivers are marked... overheating is a major problem for paddle tracks... snow from Lake Crk to the Kahiltna River was great but still not much depth...

Even with me breaking it in this weekend I was impressed with it. I'm going to put a Fire N Ice airbox on it and a SLP canister....that should lighten the front end up by 20 pounds. Ya know everyone is dogging the RMK's but I didn't have one problem this weekend. My buddy used one belt all of last year.....no belt problems at all. I watched quite a few sleds get stuck this weekend but the new IQ chassis sleds didn't have a problem...they seemed like they wanted more!!! I stopped on a hill facing up chatted with my wife then just cracked on the throttle and she just dug a deep trench and climbed to the top like it was nothing. In areas the snow would venture from waist to chest deep! Yea the front end feels nose heavy but as you can see from my pictures I had no problems......all you have to do is give it a quarter of throttle and she will putt through the powder with ease! If I had my old Ultra or XLT I probably would have got stuck this weekend! The RMK's rock![:D] Soon as Cantwell gets enough snow lets hook up one weekend. Just shoot me an email and I'll meet ya their. Have a safe trip this weekend and take lots of pictures.
I put an SLP can and air box on mine and removed the front radiator... lost a LOT of weight but she overheats now... unless you only ride powder I'd seriously think about removing the front radiator.... oh, SLP powder pro skiis are awesome !!! tremendous float and steering.. have stud boy 6" shapers.. the new $149 belts seem to be blowing up.. mine went with only a dozen miles on it so I put my old one back on and am still cruising...

Headed to Eureka tomorrow, looks like it might be a little on the cold side but they should have at least a little new snow.
I give a report next week.

Well I hate to clutter up the AK snow forum but I decided to try to sell my RMK in order to pay for my summer mod project I am planning on doing. Here is a link to the sale. I really love this sled but I am forced to sell it in order to fund my new project. I live in Wasilla. PM me if you know anyone intrested in this sled.

Talked to my buddy in Valdez yesterday. He had to do a fuel run to Glennallen and said that when he passed Bernard Creek at 74mile it was waist deep fresh Pow Pow and about 30deg and not a cloud in the sky. Dam that would have been GREAT to go hit it.

Gate Creek Cabins snow report says there is about 6" fresh in the Petersville area.

I either going there or all the way to Lost Lake this weekend.
Damn, figures it's Drill weekend for the Air Guard or I'd invite myself along.[;)] I've never ridden down south but I've heard that Lost Lake ride is nice. Have fun, ride safe...

It was a really good day.

To much Avy danger for me at Turnagain, I know my self well enough to know I could't stay off of the hill.

Lots of powder everywhere at Eureka.

well, I wouldn't have wanted to start the Iron Dog facing the pass and 4' of new snow.......
here are some pics from the start on Big Lake on Sun...
heard there was good snow at Eureka as well as Petersville, will be hoping for a cool week......
