There is a metal flap under the nose cone of my 1990 Eltigre EXT. I'm not sure what it is for and how it is used. There is a thumb screw that holds the flap when in the closed postion. Is this for extra cooling???

IF it's anything like Yami's, it used for extra cooling when in warm conditions. It can be closed for use in powder and cold conditions to keep the engine bay clear of snow, and warmer, respectively.
It is for blocking when your in alot of powder. it 's just to keep snow from blowing in the eng compartment and getting to the airbox
