There is only one real idiot left where I work (on my shift, on the other shifts, there are tons of them). This moron is a compulsive liar. 99.99% of the things out of his mouth are B.S. He's been off work now for a couple of months. He did this last year too, just about the exact same time... the beginning of October... harvest season? Yeah, he's a part time farmer. Last year, he made up some bull story about having a bunch of work to do on his house. He had to replace a few windows, replace the furnace and waterheater, and a few other things. But he only RENTS his house... shouldn't that be the job of the landlord? This year he started calling in sick, said he got a back injury. Then it just snowballed. He made a claim to FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) and applied for short term disability. He FINALLY comes back to work on Nov. 1st. The site manager says that if he comes back with a note for restricted duty, he can't stay... he is to be sent home. There can't be any issues with him possibly getting hurt at work and making a claim that work caused his back injury. My supervisor says that he doesn't want this guy doing any lifting of bending or climbing. So, he's back for almost a week and was going to climb up one of the storage racks, but is told that he's not supposed to be doing that as per the supervisor's request. The VERY NEXT DAY he comes in with a doctor's note saying that he's on restrictive duty... no bending, stooping, climbing, lifting, stretching... etc etc etc. Now, back to the site manager's statement (which this guy didn't know about before hand), I have to send this guy home because the note claim's he is not 100% cleared to work. The note said he was of restrictive duty until the 18th (after the next appointment). I heard last night, that he is now off until the 5th of December.
Everyone knows that this @$$clown has been farming and that he has not sustained a back injury. He was seen at a local department store carrying one of his kids around. He makes claims that he can't stand for more than 10 minutes at a time before it starts to hurt. But he can stand around in the office talking to people about his injury or the doctor's appointments he's been to for 30 to 45 minutes at a time.... all the while holding onto two free cases of pudding.
Nothing against farmers or farming. Someone has to do it. But this is a part time thing for this guy, his fulltime job suffered and he screwed around with the insurance company and other agencies so that he could do this farming and still get 60% of his wages from the fulltime job (while not working it), he also gets to maintain the banked sick time and vacation time.
The good news about the whole thing... the site manager has contacted the insurance company and red flagged him for possible fraud. The insurance company is now investigating and refused to pay the claims he and his doctor's have filed.
Right now I'm hoping that they nail his @$$ to the wall and that he has to pay everything back. They will be looking for a reason to fire him, or they will be looking to replace everyone else on my shift. No one wants to work with him and we've all said that if he doesn't go, we will.
