Heliace : In the interest of being polite & keeping politics out of the forum, I will refrain from telling you what I really think about your comments. Instead, let me share with you the dominating factor of current crude oil (consenquently gas) prices, courtesy of the BBC :

"... However the return to work will not include thousands of oil workers who have decided to continue their strike until Mr Chavez calls elections.

World crude oil prices have spiralled to two-year highs since the strike began in the world's fifth largest oil exporting country.

However Mr Chavez claimed oil production was rising to about two-thirds of pre-strike levels, and oil workers, though estimating output at lower than that, acknowledged it was rising. "

Blaming our President for this is foolish at best. The complete article & many, many more can be found on the BBC website at http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/2721325.stm

NightTrain, thankyou for saying something before I did....I probely wouldn't have been as nice, probely a damn Democrat anyway. As a person serving this country as a possed to bitchin about I think Bush is doing an excellent job. Back to the subject though, gas prices do suck lately....although I believe where paying around 1.45 to 1.50 a gallon. US that is.

Nighttrain: We all know that the problems in Venezuela are are affecting the price of crude, however, it would be naive to believe that Bush's "sabre rattling" is not adding to the problem as well as hurting the U.S. economy.[:)]
Indyman:If it was,nt for those "bastards" we would all have been walking a long time ago_Or maybe gone to "war" sooner???

As your post clearly states, you accuse Bush for most of the price hikes. The looming war has sent ripples throughout the oil trade, but it is very minor indeed compared to what Venezuela's crippled oil output has done to gas prices. I doubt what Bush has done and said would affect anyone at the pump in North America more than two cents per gallon.
Why? Because there hasn't been ANY interruption of oil flowing from any of the oil fields other than Venezuela.
And I take extreme exception to your portrail of Bush, a wartime President doing everything in his power to protect America and her allies from religious lunatics.

heliace:I have 2 agree with nighttrain & alaskan gold , I would much rather pay more money at the pump, than 2 have cheap gas and be terrorized by LUNATICS.I 4 1 am glad we have a pres. in office who has a set and knows how 2 use them!!!last 1 was such a joke I don't know how he got in.let's see:"I smoked pot but didn't inhale.(what a joke, would a judge not convict someone of this or an officer of the law.sure I was smoking a joint , but officer I wasn't inhaling.)another thing that bothers me real bad,why didn't slick willie serve his country during draft time ,instead of running???last but not least ,the whole lewinsky thing , this is the worst joke of all,why this liar wasn't ousted from office , and divorced by his so called wife is amazing 2 me. so in other words I stand 4 america and 4 1 am glad we have someone in office who has a moralistic view 4 america and is not in it 4 himself but 4 the USA.STAND PROUD & WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!!!stick a fork in me I'm done.

What pisses me off is that canada produces MORE THEN enough gas(oil) for all of america ,,,,,yet we ship it to them and buy ours elswere and get charged out of that yahoooo for it,, what the hell is up with that
just went up this morning here in the Outaouais area ,, regular octane went up to 84cents/littre that's almost 3.45$/gallon , somethin's got to be done ,, supposed to hit 1.00$/littre within 4 weeks,,

Here are the FACTs about oil pricing. It is very simple supply and demand. They say nothing of war or bush etc!!

Control of the Oil Market:
[red]Crude oil inventories have the single biggest effect on gas prices,[/size=3][/red] and the United States depends heavily on foreign oil supplies. In January 2001, the United States imported 273 million barrels of oil. The single largest entity impacting the world's oil supplies is the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), a consortium of 11 countries: Algeria, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Venezuela.

Together, these 11 nations account for 40 percent of the world's oil production and 77 percent of the world's oil reserves, according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA). When OPEC wants to raise the price of crude oil, it simply reduces production. This causes gasoline prices to jump because of the short supply, but also because of the possibility of future reductions. When oil production dips, gas companies get nervous. The mere threat of oil reductions can raise gas prices.

Typically, the demand for gas spikes during the summer, when lots of people go on vacation. Holidays like Memorial Day and the Fourth of July create logjams of tourist traffic during the summer. This high demand usually translates into higher gasoline prices, although that's not always the case. For instance, while gas prices soared 31 cents in April and early May of 2001, reaching $1.71 per gallon, prices actually declined during the 2001 summer.

Price increases generally occur when the world crude-oil market tightens and lowers inventories. We will discuss who controls the crude-oil market later. Also, growing demand can sometimes outpace refinery capacity. In the spring, refineries perform maintenance, which can place a pinch on the gasoline market. By the end of May, refineries are usually back to full capacity.

Middle Eastern oil (for the period 9/1/00 - 8/31/01):
...
[red]Amoco[/red].........................62,231,000 barrels
...that do not import Middle Eastern oil:
...
[red]BP/Phillips[/red].......... 0 barrels
This stat. is about 2 1/2 years old!! Was Bush even President in '01? Not only that, but BP and Amoco have merged! Stat's are way outdated!
