Let me guess...
"You're stupid we have enough natural resources to last us x number of lifetimes. Believe me when I say we're not running out any time soon."

With this you would more than likely be correct (except on the me being stupid account :D). But, that's not exactly what I was saying.

Fact: in the last one hundred years the human population on earth has nearly quadrupled.
Fact: in the last fifty years the human population on earth has more than doubled.
And there are no signs of it slowing down. With this ever growing population the speed of consumption is constantly rising. If our way of life isn't altered and our mindsets don't change we are on a fast track to problems. It's not so much that we can't use them up for the earth's sake, but for humanity's. Economic collapse is nearly certain.

You're familiar with the idea of peaks and traughs...that's good. Perhaps you are familar with the concept of "peak oil." Unfortunately, though, you don't seem to be familiar with the usage of the word "theory" in science. Writing things off as "just a theory" is ludicrous. Equally ludicrous would be to (what seems without doubt) claim that this is all just a pattern - a stance that would undoubtedly need to have a basis...a scientific one, at that - but yet also debunk global warming along with 90% of science as "just theories."

Like I said, I basically do feel that this is all just a natural cycle. But that doesn't mean we don't have things to worry about. The modern worldview that we humans and everything we do is invincible is ridiculous. Don't be sucked into it.
Let me start with saying I've NEVER called anyone stupid on this board. I actually just searched to make sure. The only time I would have is if another "my girlfriend's dog just rannned her sled into a lake and she's in a koma dieing and i'm one the phone with mars" post shows up. I respect just about everyone on this board enough to not call someone names. Each of us are entitled to our opinions. It seemed like you were borderline on saying I'm an idiot. And besides, I like a healthy argument. I'm no expert on a lot of things. I just think of them objectively.

As humans our population grows exponentially. Do you remember that line from the Matrix? Humans and virus' do the same thing - reproduce/replicate until there is nothing left; nothing to eat, nowhere to go, etc. I feel our population needs to be controlled, and yes; there is some "waste" that happens. Just watch "My SuperSweet 16". Ok kidding. But seriously I am aware of "Peak Oil". And I used quotations for a reason.

I used the term "theory" just to prove a point. And that point is that the theory that is accepted at the time is what is portrayed by whatever way the wind blows. Or whatever scientifically makes sense at the time. This week we killed life on Mars. 30 years ago, there was no life on Mars.

We have proven our theory with other scientific theory - The earth is warming and has been for 18,000 years. Just as valid as the global warming theory of "dramatic spike in temps due to greenhouse gasses". Holes in the ozone layer? Heck every time you turn on your TV or there's a lightning strike O3 is created. In fact I used to work for a company that used Ozone machines - machines that MADE ozone. Since you can't see ozone, how do they know there's a hole? I dunno - cuz they said so? It's just a theory anyways.

The whole purpose to my posts is just to say that theories change a LOT and OFTEN. Slight changes here or there. Einstein said there were 4 dimensions. Now they are mathematically pretty sure there are 11. This is correcting the person who produced the Theory of relativity - the basis for almost our entire science platform. The laws of physics? They work perfectly. Until you get to about the 1/100000000 of a second or so after the Big Bang (another theory), whereas before that Physics as we know it did not apply. But the law states that it applies at all times and all places. How can that be? They're still working on it. It may just turn out that the Big Bang never happened and the universe was created when Joey popped some bubblegum stretching the fabric of some space-time therefore creating a black hole and a whole new universe. Who knows.

Just kinda playing devil's advocate here. Yes the earth is getting warmer. But most of all? It's 11:30 at night, I spent 20 mins writing this. Why? There's no snow to ride in. We're getting crazy around here.

you were drunk and wrenching at the bar?
haha jk
That's why I said "combo" - that means part of each!
LOL

I think I may have jumped to conclusions in a few areas. For that I apologize. Also, my usage of the word "stupid" was pretty unclear. I wasn't trying to frame it as you using it in a terrible way against me. I was being facetious, but with little-to-no context that would have been hard to tell. I tried to make it clear by putting the :D after I mentioned it again, but I guess that wasn't clear. I harbor no hard feelings and I apologize, once again.

Ech, no sweat. I didn't think you were saying it, but I could tell you wanted to! There's a lot to be said by someone's inflection and tone - sometimes things get misconstrued because you can't interpret these through text on a screen. Must use Emoticons! Fix Problem!

Man.......I think I'd go crazy without having any snow to atleast goto play in by this time of the year. That's the nice thing about CO, you can Ski/Sled and Golf in the same day without driving more than 40 miles.

My theory of normalacy,

E=CS^2

Elevation = Cold and Snow

I PERSONALY FEEL THAT NO ONE HAS ANY SOLID "EVIDENCE" TO SUPPORT ANYTHING, I WILL POST SOMETHINGS TONIGHT THAT I FOUND THAT MAY GIVE US ALL A LITTLE MORE INSIGHT.

LET'S NOT GET OFF ON RABBIT TRAILS HERE,JUST SEEING IF ANYBODY HAD SOME SOLID EVIDENCE TO BACK THIS WEATHER UP!

I see alot of people driving gas guzzling SUV's and pick up trucks to work when they don't need to be. Or meaningless trips. Driving something that gets 15 mpg to haul your butt back and forth to work or the mall on bare roads is pretty stupid i.m.o.

I know one guy at work gets 14 mpg and commutes 1 hr each way every day for work, winter and summer. He makes big bucks and can afford it. There are alot of people that do just as he is and its spewing more pollution into the air then is needed, and using more gas than needed, driving costs up for us.

Look at this site.. I think its www.fuh2.com

Sleds are just as bad on fuel, if not worse. (Excluding skidoo sdi and yamaha 4 strokes) So why are people complaining about pollution on SNOWMOBILE FANATICS WEBSITE? 2 strokes give off the bluest, smelliest smoke around, that's my input. I love snowmobiling and petrolium driven vehicles. I going to live my life, and I don't give a dam what anyone else says.

This has nothing to do with global warming. Human behavior didn't affect the climate for the first 4 billion years of the earth's existence. What kind of arrogance is it to think that we have the power to affect it now.

Off Topic Response:
Who is anybody to say that I cannot drive whatever I want how ever much I want. Between my wife and I, we probably put on 60,000 miles last year. And probably at an average of 15 miles per gallon. I don't want anybody telling me I cannot do that. If you want to drive a 2-door Speck, go ahead. I will drive my pickup.

JD I like your opinion on this. If he is complaning about 15 mpg and unecisary trips, why on earth is he riding an arctic cat, which gets around 13 mpg? I drive my pickup and when im in an accident, at least I'll have a better chance of walking away from it.

Nice logic...Most snowmobiles get less than 14 mpg and spend their time buzzing the countryside and through the woods going to no particular place. I guess we're guilty of buring up your gas and driving up your prices too.

Also...supply predominately drives gas prices, not demand.

I don't put 10's of thousands of miles a year on my sled.

billions of miles wasted in a truck every day vs. if you were in a car has to have some sort of an effect on the world.

So arctic cats now get 13 mpg? Don't tell me about uneccessary trips I am making. I drive a cavalier to work when there is not many inches of snow on the road, my motorcycle to work when there is no snow on the road, and my truck to work when there is snow or I have to pick up something big. Mileage for 2006
Silverado - 4,000
Cavalier - 9,000
Motorcycle - 6,000

I also want to say that I dont blame this weather 100% on pollution. But pollution sure isn't helping it.

And the website I ment to post was www.fuh2.com

Well never mind, the content I had gets kind of off snowmobiles onto other things so forget it. I guess its back to the garage to fire up the sled and site on it and rev it up to smell the exhaust and cold air, and just pretend I'm riding in deep powder

idunno, this global warming seems really real to me. when i was like 5 or six we had like minus 30 weather all the time now it only occasionally dips below like minus 15. also my grandpa remebers going out on his sled and having the snow going over the hood almost everywhere he rode. also no matter how full of **** you think al gore is it scares the **** out of me watching the movie "an inconvenient truth." i may be wrong but it scares the **** out of me when i think of how bad we are ****in up the earth. even if the global warming is fake think of the **** we dump into the air and water.

I would have to agree humans usually only know how to destroy and kill, takes effort to change things for good I don't see the human race doing anything worth while in the future, good topic on general forum about weather getting back to normal by a amateur meteorologist says cold with snow coming in 1 to 2 weeks!
