TRAILS ARE OFFICIALLY Opened and grooming has begun throughout most of the county!

Weekly Summary: We received a few inches of snow on Saturday and grooming throughout the area was also done on Saturday. Trails remain in fair to good shape with plenty of good riding to be had.

Snow Cover on Ground in Ishpeming: 6-12+ inches
Snow Cover in Big Bay, Just to our NORTH: 12+ inches

Area Grooming: The Moose Country snowmobile club does a majority of the Ishpeming area grooming. There are also several other clubs that maintain the other areas of the county such as Big Bay, Republic, Negaunee, etc... Trails are groomed on an as needed basis, so during busy times they are normally groomed at least once a day. During slower times, it may be every other day.

NEW TRAILS for 2006: We now have a new trail this year. It is a trail leading from Republic to Amasa, MI (trail 18--just off of trail 5 in Republic). This trail will shorten the Southern loop in the county as well as opening up more day ride opportunities. Give this great new trail a try!

Area Conditions:
Trail 8 (west) ; Snow covered; groomed 12-31; fair to good condition
Trail 5 (Clowry North); Snow covered; groomed 12-31; fair to good shape
Trail 14 (East Big Bay); Snow covered; groomed and fair to good
Trail 310 (Big Bay); Snow covered; groomed and fair to good
Trail 5 (South); Snow covered; not groomed yet; Need more snow.
Gwinn Area; Snow covered; groomed in most areas. Fair to good
Republic to Amasa; Needs more snow; rideable but ungroomed
