1 Your dealership
2 The guy you bought it off used

and now

3 "Polaris engineers"

Erick, if you seriously think they are objective about their own sled #s, i got a 165 hp 1990 500 classic to sell ya! will stay with a mach z 1000 for the first 660 ft....lol

erick, what was your 700??? how did you like the engine? I am considering trying to find an 03 Edge X or Xc Sp 700 in the summer, I want to find something with under 2000 miles for $5,000 or less. is that possible or is it going to be a tough find? I'd really like a black and yellow edge X, those looked mint! that was the first new sled I rode, the 2003 Edge X 700.

Why would this be objective? I have a frickin print out of the HP curve. I live not more than 30 miles from Polaris engineering. I'm pretty sure I can trust the source I have and if I can't, I should probably shoot myself right now because that's how much I believe in him. I'm sure a multi hundred thousand dollar dyno can give proper HP numbers unlike a cheap, uncalibrated dyno which a lot of sledding magazines use.

Indy600.. My engine was comprised of mostly parts from 2002. There were some 2001 parts on there as well. It has VES.

indy600, test ride that firecat GOOD before you buy. the tippiest sled ive ridden since our old 71 ski doo olympique 335! lol but seriously, i realize the f cats get alot of their handling ability from the very FACT theyre narrow and tippy at low speeds. but when the going gets slow on the trail and you get stuck behind that dreaded caravan of 15 ski doo grand tourings and classic 2ups (ugh), i didnt find it to be to good a trail sled. too much trade off for me. i had my eye on an f7 for the efi and horsepower aspect but i just couldnt deal with the trade off on a daily basis. especially coming from always sure footed polaris's. definitely test ride one first!

I consider myself an aggressive rider who will only get better with more experience, in my time of snowmobiling the sleds that I have ridden are as follows: 1991 Polaris Indy 500 ( first sled I rode ) 1996 Polaris Indy 500 ( fathers sled ) 1997 Arctic Cat ZL 440 Liq ( family friends sleds ) 2000 Arctic Cat ZL 500 ( Uncles sled ) and finally a 2003 Polaris Edge X 700 ( demo ride, very short ). I am not sure how credible my riding judgement is from what I have ridden but it I am pretty knowledgable when it comes to sleds. I would probobly be happy with a simple sled like a nice ZX chassis mXz Adrenaline, or Edge chassis Xc Sp... the traditional sled, still very nice I must say, but for some reason I just find myself in the ball park for a Firecat, REV, Pro X type sled, something aggressive and more advanced in ways, I have always noticed that the handlebars of traditional sleds have annoyed me, I always catch myself riding sno cross style stand up alot, not an extensive amount but enough to love F-Cat, Pro X handlebar set ups, I do not get much chance to ride other sleds, that is why I am so in the dark when all the other members of the post can just go out and try something, I don't ride with many people, and the ones I do ride with, there sleds are nothing fantastic, but that does'nt mean I can't shoot for what I want, I would like to ride them all and find out for myself, but the oppurtunity just is not there, so I must rely on feedback from posts and forum members, this is explaining why my threads can become so persistant and repetative... sometimes down right annoying to some however this is why. I am sure I would love the Firecat, or a REV, however the styles are not for everyone, but I won't have a chance to find that out for myself, which puts me in a tough place when looking for a used sled, there are plenty of things I would love to have, but the key is being happy with what you end up with, instead of wishing it were something else. Right now an Edge Xc Sp 700 is on my mind, a nice powerplant, can keep up with 600H.O and F6's which says alot, there fast machines, but is not so much that it is brutal power, or overkill... to me... for what I ride, it is not that I can't handle it or would'nt want one but I don't NEED an 800, a 700 Edge, or ZX, and even an F6 would do me just dandy. I want to spend $5,000 on my used sled, and have under 2,000 on the ticker.

I checked back with the guy that did the dyno runs on my 700 and I stand slightly corrected. It was 128 HP but the engine was not completely stock. It had shortened intake tracts the reed cages were modified to let the reed open a bit more and it had an SLP exhaust system on it which didn't have any significant effect on it vs the stock pipe. The cylinders were however completely stock.
You can believe whatever you want about the HP of Polaris engines but I feel my numbers are correct.

Quick question for you.

You have been here a total of one day. You have 6 posts, at least 3 of them are in this topic telling everyone to ignore Erick's HP numbers.

Erick however, has been here since day one. Erick and I made this place. Erick has thousands of helpful posts. Erick doesn't use stupid sarcasm like
3. "Polaris Engineers"
Erick is obviously a very trusted person around here. I'm willing to bet that most people who visit here will listen to him before they listen to the guy who is being sarcastic and his sources of information are "the mags" (extremely poor sources by the way, magazines give good reports to those who give them money).
