I'm surrounded by hundreds of thousands of national forest, and the USFS is considering shutting down snowmobiles because of too much snow & we're stressing out the moose population.
The moose outnumber us 100 to 1 out there and as long as folks aren't chasing down the critters with their sleds, I don't see a problem. I spend most of my winter out there and I've seen only a handfull of moose over the last decade. It does happen, but as vast as the terrain is, and as few of us actually venture into moose country, I believe they're over-reacting to a non-existant situation.
"Town Hall" meeting with the USFS to discuss this topic on Feb 1.
