95 XLT 600. Finally got the old beast running again! Went for a ride yesterday and sometimes when you stop the sled just kills, like if you hit the kill switch. So I tried stopping and wiggling the throttle a couple times and it seems to be in the throttle safety switch. It didn't do this nefore, but we had to loosen the cable on the middle carb to sync them yesterday. Cable does seem a little loose. about 3/16-1/4 free play before the carbs kick in. Do I just adjust the cables evenly to remove some of the slack? Or is there something else I should look at?
Thanks!

All you need to do is take a little bit of slack out of the throttle cable. With that much play, the botton located between the throttle lever and housing is not being pressed in all the way and it dies. To test it out, just hold the throttle 100% shut, then start it up. as you S L O W L Y give it gas, the engine will die as soon as the button is exposed.
A good 1/16" of cable play is more than enough.

Polaris specifies the throttle cable free play should be between 0.010" and 0.030". Just use a feeler blade between the throttle lever and the throttle block. Keep in mind there has to be some throttle cable slack or the engine will not idle down but the slack should be minimal.

Tighten your cable like the others said, then if it's still giving you problems, pull the cover off of your kill switch and cut the two little wires going to the two small switches on the throttle and that'll sovle all your problems. My sled was doing the exact same thing and after cutting the two little wires, all is good. The wires you would cut are in case the throttle sticks wide open, it'll kill the motor. Not really needed if you can hit the kill switch quick enough.
