2002 Pro X 600 - slowly losing coolant...?

I purchased a 2002 Pro X 600 with 3500 on it this past summer; really like the sled so far and it runs strong. The issue I am having is I appear to be slowly losing a small amount of coolant over a week or so, as the level in the bottle is going down slightly over this time frame. In doing some research, it sounds as if it is either the base gasket or the water pump seal. I am wanting others opinion as to if you feel it is likely one over the other. I checked the plugs and they are clean and show no signs of being wet with coolant. If it is the base gasket, I would do that myself and put a new top end in while I am at it. If it is the water pump seal, the motor needs to be pulled and will have a buddy of mine who is a Polaris mechanic do this.

I did not experience any coolant loss at all over the summer, so I am surprised to have this issue all of a sudden. I did recently change out the temp sensor due to a bad wire, which caused a little coolant loss, but put what I lost back in. My buddy said to first burp the system to make sure it is not an issue with some air in the system, so I will first give that a try to see if that takes care of the issue.

Looking for your thoughts on this...

Its probably the base gaskets. they like to seep on these 600 ves motors ive changes many

Polaris 91, I just bought a 2004 Pro X2. It has 3,600 miles and when my engine warms up white smoke pours out of the exhaust and it smells like antifreeze. The sled runs great and the spark plugs are dry. I replaced the O rings and it still smokes so I assume it is the base gaskets. What gaskets do you recommend over the OEM? Also are there any things I should know when I install the Pistons back in the cylinders? Should I re-ring it?
any info is appreciated.
thanks
Tim

Could also be the O rings in the head that seal the water jacket. Both of my 700 BB's needed them done. They would loose coolant slowly over a few day period that was hard to find, the 2000 XCSP 700 was coming out of the engine right above the exhaust ports. My Pro-X2 was leaking so slowly that you couldn't notice it other than the level in the bottle going down. Only reason I was able to find it was when I was able to borrow a coolant system pressure tester and test it, leaked out enough that you could see and hear it coming through.

base gasket was the culprit on my 04 prox 600, I just got a complete gasket set and did everything to save future headaches...

Another thing that is known to be a problem is the cap and bottle no longer holding pressure. I had a Pro-X in the shop years ago that was loosing coolant unexplainably and it turned out the water was evaporating over time as the cap no longer sealed properly. Got a new bottle and cap problem solved.

If the coolant is leaking out of your pump you should be able to see a stain from it either on the aluminum of the engine around the pump or in the belly pan or on the ground under the sled.

No staining or external evidence of a leak. The seepage is very minimal at this point, but am leaning towards either the base gasket or o-rings in the head. I am thinking of replacing the base gaskets on up this weekend, as well as replacing the pistons and rings while I am at it. What is the ring end gap to be on these 600s?
